Notorious criminal, 9 aides assault family, damage cars

Ludhiana: A month after coming out of jail on bail, notorious criminal Sagar Neutron, along with at least nine of his accomplices, created ruckus at Shaheed Karnail Singh Nagar in the wee hours of Sunday.The accused barged into a house, attacked the family members, including elderly women, and vandalised the property and cars parked in the street before fleeing, police said.The injured have been identified as Sukhjeet Kaur, Sarabjit Kaur, Amandeep Kaur and Dara Singh, all belonging to a single family. Sarabjit’s son Gurlal Singh Gopi had locked himself in a room to save himself from the attacker.Simranjeet Singh, a resident of Karnail Singh Nagar, said he and his brother worked as drivers. “I drive a Toyota Innova and my brother drives a Toyota Etios, which we had parked outside our house. We were sleeping on Saturday night when around 12:30am, we heard loud noises. We rushed outside the house to check the situation and found both our cars vandalised. Thereafter, I came to know that our neighbours were attacked by a group of assailants,” he told the police.“I went to their house and saw that the entire property was vandalised. Family members, including women, were badly injured as well. We took them to a hospital in our damaged cars,” Simranjeet added.Later on, the victims informed the police, following which cops from Dugri station reached the spot. The victims have accused Sagar Neutron and his accomplices of attacking the family and vandalising vehicles in the locality.Assistant commissioner of police (ACP) (South) Guriqbal Singh said, “The name of notorious criminal Sagar Neutron has come up in the matter. He was lodged in jail and had come out on bail on March 3. We have identified some of his accomplices too, who had attacked the Karnail Nagar family. Police teams have been formed to conduct raids and nab the accused.”ACP: Had come to attack injured woman’s sonThe ACP further said that the accused had a spat with the injured woman’s son Navi a few days ago.“Navi disappeared, sensing an imminent attack on him. On Sunday midnight, the accused had barged into Navi’s house to assault him, but he was not at home. On seeing the assailants, Navi’s brother Gopi locked himself in a room. However, they assaulted his family, including women,” he added.The injured have been undergoing treatment at the hospital.The ACP said that an FIR has been registered at the Dugri police station and efforts were on to trace the culprits.Already faces multiple FIRs On Dec 16, 2023, Sagar Neutron was booked for smuggling of firearms from Madhya Pradesh through his couriers, including a minor.A member of Puneet Bains Gang, Neutron’s two couriers were arrested by the Ludhiana police on Feb 17 with six pistols, eight magazines and 12 live cartridges. At that time, Neutron was lodged in Punjab’s high-security Nabha jail and had sent his couriers to procure weapons from Indore.
