Owner on medical trip, Ludhiana factory stock sold off; premises locked, manager disappears.
Ludhiana: A factory manager has been charged with stealing sacks of hosiery waste, selling off the stock, and disappearing after his employer went abroad for medical treatment. The accused, identified as Sona of Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, was working as a manager at a hosiery waste factory in Maharana Pratap Nagar, Tibba. Factory owner Honey Bhardwaj filed a complaint with the Tibba police station. Bhardwaj stated that he traveled to the United States for medical treatment in July, leaving Sona in charge of the factory operations. When the owner returned a month later, he found the factory locked. His family informed him that Sona had left for his hometown in Uttar Pradesh, claiming his wife had given birth and he needed money. The family had reportedly lent Sona Rs 40,000 in cash before he departed. Upon entering the factory, Bhardwaj discovered that the sacks of hosiery waste were missing. He alleged that Sona had sold the entire stock and pocketed the proceeds before fleeing.Bhardwaj attempted to contact Sona, who initially promised to return to Ludhiana but has since become untraceable and unapproachable. The Tibba police have registered a case against Sona under sections of the new criminal code (BNS, or the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita), specifically Section 306 (theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of master).Head constable Sandeep Singh, the investigating officer, has confirmed that the accused's mobile phone is switched off. "The police have his hometown's address, and a team will raid there for his arrest," the cop stated. MSID:: 125185511 413 |
