Rs 9 lakh gone in 5 seconds
Ludhiana: Three motorcycle-borne men robbed an iron scrap dealer of Rs 9.67 lakh at gunpoint in Vijay Nagar late on Friday. The scrap dealer had just closed his office-cum-godown to go home, when the bikers reached the spot and took him at gunpoint.
Acting on the complaint of Shailesh Tiwari of Haibowal, the Division number 2 police have registered a case against three unidentified accused.
Tiwari claimed that the incident occured around 11.45 pm. The trio wore masks and two of them had guns. Asked to hand over the bag of cash, Tiwari did not put up resistance out of fear. After getting the bag, the trio made Tiwari sit in his car parked near the office and escaped.
Thereafter, Shailesh called up cops. Inspector Surinder Kumar, SHO, Division number 2 police station, said Shailesh and his brother Ram Narayan owned the business of iron scrap and he used to keep cash with him.
The inspector said the trio carried out the crime within four to five seconds. The police have scanned more than 100 CCTV cameras installed in the locality. The accused have been captured in some cameras, but the footages are not clear enough.
The official said a CCTV footage captured the accused going towards Islamgunj area. The accused had masks, but police will trace them soon, he added.
