Winning independent joins AAP, party shoring up ranks

TNNLudhiana: The number of AAP councillors in Ludhiana MC rose to 42 after an independent candidate who won from ward number 11 joined the party during an introduction meeting of AAP councillors at a hotel on Chandigarh road on Monday. Meanwhile, AAP leaders maintained that they had the numbers to cross the halfway mark and the party would have a mayor.As per the Ludhiana AAP, the independent candidate who won from ward number 11, Deepa Rani Chaudhary, joined the party under the leadership of cabinet minister Laljit Singh Bhullar and MLA Ludhiana East Daljit Singh Bhola Grewal. Markfed chairman Amandeep Singh Mohi, MLAs Ashok Parashar Pappi, Madan Lal Bagga and Kulwant Singh Sidhu as well as vice-chairman Paramveer Singh were present on the occasion.AAP district (urban) president, Sharanpal Singh Makkar, said that the meeting was organised at a hotel on Chandigarh Road to introduce winning councillors to the district and state leadership. AAP district (urban) president said that the leaders motivated winning councillors to back the people who worked with them during the elections and to work with MLAs, the district team and volunteers. Meanwhile, AAP district secretary Paramveer Singh said that they had enough numbers to cross the halfway mark in Ludhiana MC.AAP sources claimed that the party already had the numbers and six to seven winners from other parties had contacted the party to offer support. They added that one of them won from the ward in Ludhiana east constituency.
