Ludhiana: A woman attacked a TV mechanic with acid at his shop in Jamalpur on Saturday evening. She tried to escape on her scooter but onlookers nabbed her. The man suffered burn injuries on his face, eyes, shoulders and back. The victim, Jasbir Singh, 53, a resident of Jamalpur, is undergoing treatment in Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH). Jasbir Singh, who runs a TV repair workshop in Jamalpur, was in his shop on Saturday evening, when at around 3pm, a woman came and threw the acid on Jasbir Singh. Then she tried to run away but people gathered on hearing the woman’s cries. They nabbed the woman and handed her over to the police. The victim’s kin rushed him to hospital and informed the police.
Inspector Bikramjit Singh, SHO at Jamalpur police station, said that the attack seemed to this seems to be a matter of an old rivalry. tnn
