Elderly citizens vote via postal ballot

Madurai: The postal ballot for the elderly people above 85 years commenced in Madurai Lok Sabha constituency on Saturday. It will cover 1,199 people that includes 875 elderly above 85 and 324 differently abled during a three-day exercise on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
District administration has formed 25 teams with each team comprising a micro-observer, regional officers, one gazetted officer, a photographer and policeman.
These teams will visit the houses of the 1,199 people and collect their postal ballots.
Collector M S Sangeetha inspected the process in Madurai East assembly constituency on Saturday.
The elderly citizens expressed their happiness stating that the exercise relieved them of the stress of visiting polling stations in this summer month.
