Explosive substance used for railway expansion work blasts in Tamil Nadu, one dead

of Tamil Nadu claimed the life of a 37-year-old temple security guard on Sunday. The man died after

explosive substance

used to break rocks, for the expansion, blasted. Three were booked in connection to the case.

The deceased was identified as T Andi, 37, from Thimmarasanayakkanur village near Andipatti. He worked as a security guard at Dharmasasatha Temple. He was on duty with P Sivaraman from the same village.

On Saturday, the two went for a walk and were a few metres away from the temple. Explosive substance that was placed to break rocks for the railway line expansion project blasted.

Andi and Sivaraman were admitted to Theni medical college hospital for treatment. Andi was later shifted to

Government Rajaji Hospital

as he suffered severe head injury. On Sunday morning he died. Sivaraman is still undergoing treatment.

A case was registered at Andipatti police station. Police booked Suppan and Ponnarasan from Salem district and Sridar from

Uthamapalayam

in Theni district, for not taking enough precautions with the explosives. The duo from Salem were booked for using the explosive and Sridar for selling it to them.
