Free entry to tourist sites in Kodaikanal till May 31

Dindigul: In a move aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving visitor experience during the peak summer season, the Dindigul district administration has announced that forest department–controlled tourist spots in Kodaikanal can be visited free of cost till May 31.

District collector S Saravanan said the decision was taken in view of the surge in tourist arrivals during the summer holidays and the ongoing flower show and summer festival at Bryant Park. The 63rd annual flower show and summer festival, organized by the horticulture, hill crops, and tourism departments, is being held from May 20 to May 31 and has drawn large crowds to the hill station.

To prevent long queues, reduce traffic bottlenecks and ensure smooth movement of visitors, several facilities have already been put in place at major tourist locations under the forest department. These include Pillar Rocks, Guna Caves, Pine Forests and Moir Point, which are among the most visited attractions in Kodaikanal.

As per the announcement, tourists can access these forest-controlled sites without paying entry fees from May 25 to 31. The temporary waiver is expected to ease pressure on roads, shorten waiting times, and enhance overall convenience for visitors.

The administration has also appealed to tourists to cooperate with authorities and follow safety and traffic regulations while visiting the hill station during the festival period.
