Kids’ lit-fest in Madurai on August 26-27

Madurai: The third edition of ‘Oru Oorula’ Madurai Children’s Literary Festival (MCLF) is set to be held at Thiagarajar college, Teppakulam, on August 26 and August 27.“‘This festival aims to inspire children to explore the world of books and stories. Meeting the creators of the books encourages the children to read more and fall in love with the books,” said Surya Preethy, founder of MCLF and owner of the book store, Turning Point. Award-winning authors such as Paro Anand, Shoba Viswanath, Vaishali Shroff, Vizhiyan and Vishnupuram Saravanan, storytellers Geeta Ramanujam, Jeeva Raghunath, Meenu Sivaramakrishnan, Vithya Danaraj and Amar Chitra Katha, and illustrator Savio Mascarenhas are participating in the fest.“We have more than 40 sessions with authors, storytellers and others, as well as three workshops and three panel discussions,” said Preethy. The workshops include puppet storytelling for teachers and parents, story writing workshop for students aged 8-11 years, and reading workshop for children aged 5-10 years. All sessions and entry are free for all, except for workshops. tnn
