Vijay trying to destroy AIADMK, Dravidian parties, Dhinkaran

Madurai: AMMK general secretary T T V Dhinakaran on Thursday accused chief minister Vijay of trying to destroy AIADMK, Dravidian parties and Amma’s cadre through attempts to split rival parties and lure away legislators.

“Vijay’s intention is to go beyond democratic methods and destroy Dravidian parties through coercive methods,” he said.

Dhinakaran said AIADMK functionaries who broke away and supported Vijay had committed a “huge mistake” as Vijay was trying to destroy AIADMK and Amma’s cadre and were now realising they had been “cheated.” “Today Vijay has left them stranded in the middle of the road,” he said, adding that several leaders had already begun returning to AIADMK.

Alleging violations of the anti-defection law, Dhinakaran claimed TVK attempted to form the government by “buying MLAs” and offering ministerial posts.

He also criticised parties in DMK alliance, who campaigned against TVK, but extended support stating that they wanted to avoid President’s Rule in Tamil Nadu. “But in reality, it is against democracy”.

Claiming that public dissatisfaction was growing, Dhinakaran said people were beginning to realise they had “made a wrong decision” by voting for change. Referring to protests over power cuts and electricity shortages, he cited television visuals from Tiruvallur where residents allegedly complained about prolonged outages.

Calling the first 15 days of the administration a “disappointment,” he said governance could not be run through “Instagram reels” and accused the government of failing to maintain law and order.
