3 booked under NDPS Act in separate cases

Udupi: Three persons were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in separate cases reported from Kundapur and Kaup in Udupi district. The accused were identified as Mohammad Ajwan, 23, Mohammad Shafiq, 18, and Anil, 23.On Saturday, Dharmendra, ASI of Kundapur police station, was on duty near Shastri Circle in Vadderhobli village, Kundapur taluk, when he noticed a man behaving suspiciously. The man, identified as Mohammad Ajwan, was taken into custody and subjected to a medical examination at Kundapur Govt Hospital. The medical officer confirmed that he consumed narcotic substances. A case was registered under Section 27(b) of the NDPS Act.In another incident the same day, ASI Dharmendra noticed another individual, later identified as Mohammad Shafiq, loitering in an intoxicated state near Parijata Circle in Kasaba village. He was similarly detained and taken for a medical examination, which confirmed drug consumption. A case was filed under the same section of the NDPS Act.In a separate case reported from Kaup taluk, Tejaswi TI, sub-inspector of Kaup police station, received information on Friday about a youth allegedly consuming ganja near the Narayana Guru Sabha Bhavan in Muluru village. The youth, identified as Anil, who was found under the influence of drugs, was taken to the forensic medicine department at KMC Hospital, Manipal. The forensic report on Saturday confirmed ganja consumption. Based on this, a case was registered at Kaup police station under Section 27(b) of the NDPS Act.
