Gerry Niddodi gets literary award

Mangaluru: Konkani Lekhak Sangh, Karnataka, will confer the Konkani Literary Award to Gerald Pinto (Gerry Niddodi) on Feb 17.Konkani Lekhak Sangh Karnataka is a voluntary association exclusively formed with the sole intention of promoting Konkani language and literature in 2018. From 2022, Konkani Lekhak Sangh decided to select and honour Konkani writers who have made significant contributions towards Konkani literature.“For 2024, Konkani Lekhak Sangh award committee has selected a well-known Konkani writer Gerald Pinto,” said sangh convener Richard Moras, addressing the reporters on Friday. The award consists of a cash prize, citation and memento.Pinto served as the president of the Catholic Sabha, Central Committee, and as an editor of ‘Amcho Sandesh’. He is the recipient of Danthy Memorial Award, Konkani Kutam Bahrain Award, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Award, Daiji Dubai Literary Award, Divo Sahitya Award and Amcho Sandesh Silver Jubilee Award. He has also served as the director of ‘Manasa’ Pamboor. He has served as principal of Milagres College, Kallianpur, Udupi. Currently, he is the director of MCC Bank Limited, Mangaluru. He has written six novels, 75 short stories, and more than 900 articles on different subjects.
