5 months after death, boy’s body exhumed for autopsy

MUZAFFARNAGAR: Police in UP’s Mainpuri have exhumed the body of a minor five months after his death and sent it for autopsy after his mother, Poonam Yadav, claimed that her son, 10, was killed by her relative due to an ongoing dispute.

Yadav said that after police failed to take action in the matter, she knocked on the doors of the court on December 18. The court of chief judicial magistrate, Namrata Singh, thereafter ordered the coroner to exhume the teenager’s body and conduct a postmortem.

The remains were taken out from the grave on Wednesday in the presence of administration and police officers.

In her police complaint filed on October 9, Yadav said, “The incident took place on July 24 after a dispute between my father-in-law Ausan Singh and other in-laws. Two unknown persons then strangled my 10-year-old son Raj to death and hanged him with a scarf.”
