Woman, lover get life term for killing her hubby

Bijnor: A court in Amroha district on Saturday sentenced a woman and her lover to life imprisonment for murdering her husband in 2023.Additional district govt counsel Devesh Nagar said Mehraj, 35, alias Mehnaz, and her husband, Mohd Chand, 40, a carpenter, were living at her maternal home in Islam Nagar village, where she developed a relationship with her neighbour, Shahrukh Khan. Upon discovering this, Chand moved to Dilari village with his six children.On April 23, 2023, Mehraj called Chand back to her village, where Shahrukh was already present. Following an altercation, they stabbed Chand 14 times in the chest and abdomen. He succumbed during treatment. Based on a complaint from the deceased's brother, Mohammad Nisar, police registered a case of murder and conspiracy against both, leading to their arrest, he added.ADGC Nagar said the court of additional district judge Naseema Khanam, after considering witness statements, evidence, and arguments, found them guilty. Both were also fined Rs 60,000.
