MUMBAI: The city crime branch on Wednesday raided two godowns in south Mumbai and arrested two wholesale dealers of fake branded watches worth Rs 1.5 crore.
Replica watches of brands such as Tissot, Hublot, Montblanc, Omega, Versace, Micheal Kors, Calvin Klen, Fossil, TAG Heuer and Panerai were seized.
Crime branch unit 4 led by inspector Ninad Sawant conducted the raids at the godowns located in Sutar Chawl, Kalbadevi. Around 8,498 fake watches were seized, and dealers Kuman Gada (31) and Hitesh Gada (38) were arrested on the charges of cheating under the IPC and sections of the Copyright Act. Sources said that every month fake watches worth Rs 50 crore are smuggled into India via Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi.
