58 cops, 6 fire officers from Maha get Prez awards

Mumbai: Additional DGP (ACB) Niket Kaushik, Mira-Bhayander, Vasai-Virar police commissioner Madhukar Pandey; special IGP (coastal security) Dilip Sawant, and inspector Madhukar Kad are among the senior police officers from Maharashtra who won the President’s medal this year for distinguished services.
JCP (law and order) Satya Narayan Choudhary, additional police commissioner Sanjay Patil, ACP Deepak Nikam, and inspectors Yogesh Chavan, Sanjay Mohite and Suresh Kadam won for meritorious services.
Following the recent restructuring of medals, 1,132 personnel of police, fire service, home guard, NCB, civil defence, and correctional service have been awarded gallantry and service medals on the occasion of Republic Day, said a statement from the Union home ministry on Thursday. Eighteen Maharashtra police officials won gallantry medals (277 in all) and 40 for meritorious services.
Six from the fire brigade —deputy chief fire officers Anil Vasant Parab and Harishchandra Raghu Shetty, divisional officer Devendra Shivaji Patil, and fire officers Rajaram Nivritti Kudale (stationed at Byculla), Kishore Jairam Mhatre and Muralidhar Anaji Andhale —won for meritorious services. —S Ahmed Ali
