MUMBAI: The sweeper accused arrested in the case of sexual abuse of two girls studying in nursery section in Badlapur school was produced in Kalyan session court today where the court has sent the accused to judicial custody for 14 days.
The accused was produced in Kalyan court by the police amidst heavy security today.
It may be recalled that the accused, who was employed as a sweeper in the school in place of his younger brother on the 1st August of this month, made small girls his victims in the washroom on the 12th and 13th. Later, after the complaint of the parents of the girls, the police registered a case in this matter and arrested the accused on August 17, but in this case, due to the delay in registering the case first by the school administration and then by police, people angry with the incident kept the city of Badlapur closed for a day.
During this band, angry people also vandalized the school and stopped the train at Badlapur station for more than 8 hours.
Seeing the matter getting escalated, the state government later suspended the three negligent police personnel and formed an SIT to investigate the case and handed over the investigation to inspector general Aarti Singh and decided to run the case on a fast track in the court.
In the midst of all this, the school administration, in order to cover up its negligence, sacked the accused sweeper from job and also suspended the school principal, class teacher and two female attendants who were responsible for taking the girls from classroom to washroom and bringing them safely.
In this case, the Mahavikas Aghadi in the state had also announced a one-day state bandh, which they withdrew after being reprimanded by the court.
