Cong failed to keep poll promises in other states: BJP ministers

Mumbai: BJP Union ministers hailing from Telangana, Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday claimed Congress made false promises during the assembly elections in their respective states and has failed to keep them. In Mumbai to campaign for the assembly polls, MP and Union minister G Kishan Reddy said Congress had given six guarantees for Telangana, but after 340 days of governance, it had not kept even a single promise. The loan waiver promise to 2 lakh farmers had not even reached 40% of them, he said. Not a single rupee had been received under Mahalaxmi yojana, he said. MP and Union minister Shobha Karandlaje said Karnataka's debt rose from Rs 46,000 crore to Rs 82,000 crore under the Congress regime. Gruhlaxmi yojana, free bus travel, and free rice and electricity for women remained mere slogans, she said. Minister Anurag Thakur said Congress offered Himachal Pradesh 10 guarantees before the state polls. "Congress said it would buy dung at the rate of Rs 2 per kg and milk for Rs 100 per litre. It's been two years and they haven't bought from even two people yet. They promised Rs 1,500 to 23 lakh women but have given nothing so far," he said. Congress carried out a false campaign even during the Lok Sabha elections, alleged Thakur. "The copy of their constitution is as blank as their performance." tnn
