MUMBAI: BJP MLAs will resign from the committee set up to scrutinise the

Shakti Law

Bill if forest minister Sanjay Rathod does not resign from the state cabinet, said opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis.

Addressing a press conference at the Garware Club on Sunday, he said the Shakti Law is a farce as it does not apply to ruling party members.

Building up the pressure to force forest minister Sanjay Rathod’s resignation for his alleged link to

Tik Tok star Puja Chavan’s death by suicide

on February 8, the opposition leader said the resignations would be submitted today.

Fadnavis said the police inspector leading the probe in Puja Chavan’s death must be immediately suspended for failing to carry out his duty

“Despite audio clips, photographs and other proofs, an FIR has still not been registered,” he added.

He said crimes against women in the state had been on the rise. Those leading in committing these crimes are leaders and ministers from the ruling party, he said.

Despite an FIR being registered against an NCP youth leader no action being taken so far, Fadnavis added.

The opposition leader said he does not blame Sanjay Rathod as he enjoys the support of his party leadership.

Terming the government as helpless he alleged widespread corruption in transfers including that of IAS and IPS officials.

Fadnavis said the party stands firmly behind Chitra Wagh against whose husband the police have filed a complaint of disproportionate assets.

The BJP will release a booklet on large scale corruption during the Covid-19.

Fadnavis criticised the government for cancelling the traditional tea party citing the resurge in Covid19 cases saying Covid19 does not impact the government’s show of strength it is only for Shiv Jayanti and the traditional tea party.
