MUMBAI: The murder of salon executive

Kirti Vyas

will be one of the rarest cases in which the crime branch will be filing the chargesheet this week without the body being found. Kirti (28), a resident of Grant Road who worked for

BBlunt Salon

in Andheri, went missing in March.

Two of her colleagues—

Siddhesh Tamhankar

and Khushi Sahjwani—were arrested in connection with the murder. Cops said Siddhesh, who had been served a notice over his performance by Kirti, strangled her in Khushi’s SUV. A police inquiry unearthed that the two later dumped her body at

Mahul

. Siddhesh and Khushi were arrested on May 5.

The prosecution will rely on the DNA report, call records and CCTV footage. Special public prosecutor Raja Thackeray will plead the case. “The case can be compared to the Sheena Bora murder in which skeletal rema-ins were found in Raigad. This is the reason the family has not performed her last rites,” said a source. Crime branch officials said that they have strong evidence in the case despite not having found the body.

“Efforts are on to search the body, but we don’t need it as there is enough evidence to prove the murder,” said joint police commissioner (crime) Ashutosh Dumbre. CCTV footage showed Kirti getting into a car outside her house. Later, blood stains found in Khushi’s vehicle matched with the DNA of Kirti’s parents. Police said that they are relying on the CCTV footage in which Siddhesh and Khushi are seen in the vicinity of Kirti’s house at Grant Road on the day she went missing. “The call data records of Siddhesh, Khushi and Kirti showed that they were together on March 16 when the salon executive went missing,” said a police officer.
