Can’t blame anyone, says kin of South Sudan student
MUMBAI: The family and friends of South Sudanese student Jowahir Abdallah (24) said they were left heartbroken by her helplessness after watching the

“We were not aware of how the railway accident had taken place... so we went to the police station on Thursday,” said Mustafa, who has flown in from South Sudan. Mustafa, a gynaecologist, said she now wants to rush back to the rest of the family who were grieving in South Sudan. Abdallah’s death dealt a double blow to the family as her father passed away on Sunday.
“It was disheartening to see the CCTV footage and her helplessness. Bystanders did not do much; only one of her friends, Angelo, ran to her rescue. Where is humanity? People should have tried to help her. There should be more railway policemen present on platforms to help in emergency cases,” said Sarah James, Abdallah’s childhood friend.
James said they do not want the case to receive any more media coverage as they were worried about Abdallah’s mother. “We want this to be over,” said James, who recently graduated from a college in Noida .
