NAVI MUMBAI: Police inspector Subhash Pujari (45) attached to Navi Mumbai police department's Dial 112 emergency police helpline number has earned accolades for the Maharashtra police by winning two gold medals in the body building competition at the World Police and Fire Games 2025 held at Birmingham, Alabama in USA.
The competition is going on from June 26 till July 6. While, Shubhangi Ghule (27), a fire fighter from Panvel City Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has won a bronze medal in the ultimate fire fighting challenge at the international sporting event at Alabama, USA.
Inspector Pujari said, "I won a gold medal in the 172 cm height category in the body building competition and another gold medal in the men's physique competition. The achievement has been possible due to practicing for six hours every day for this competition
under the guidance of Mr. Olympia Sunit Jadhav. There were participants from 76 countries. So far, I have won 6 medals in Mr. World Body Building Competition and 4 medals in Mr. Asia Competition. I have bagged 10 international medals and 5 medals in the National Competition."
An elevated Ghubhangi Ghule said, "I succeeded to bag a bronze medal despite tough competition with participants from over 50 countries. Despite being recruited in the fire department of Panvel civic body just last year, the support from my higher authority, coach and family members to participate in the international sporting event was indeed a motivation. The ultimate fire fighting challenge at the international turf needs to showcase your physical prowess, flexibility with speed and technical expertise that was possible due to training from my coach."
Pravin Bodkhe, chief fire officer said, " At the National level sports event, in April, Ghule had won two gold medals in Discuss Throw and Shot Put at the Third Edition of The All India Fire Service Sport and Fire Service Meet held Thyagaraj Stadium in New Delhi.
Hence, considering her achievement, she was nominated by Panvel civic for the international sporting event at the Ultimate Fire Fighting Challenge as part of the Indian contingent.
She was among the four fire brigade personnel- two men and two women, who were nominated. The civic body had sponsored them. However, one woman candidate backed out, but Ghule was determined to win at the international event and she has proved it by winning a bronze medal."
