Thane: The vaccination drive for Kalyan and Dombivli has been suspended by the civic body for June 29.

According to an official from the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation, the inoculation drive has been cancelled for tomorrow due to unavailability of sufficient vaccine doses from the state government.

The civic body has been facing a vaccine crunch ever since the drive resumed for everyone above the age of 18 years on June 21.

While the twin cities saw no vaccinations on June 26 as well, on the rest of the days, only a limited number of jabs were being administered at a couple of centres.

Kalyan and Dombivli have been the worst-hit areas due to the pandemic in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). While the positivity rate is now witnessing a steady decline, there are still over 1000 active cases in the KDMC limits.

On Monday, the cities reported 60 new cases of coronavirus. However, no fresh fatalities were recorded and as many as 89 patients recovered from the infection.

The twin cities have so far counted 1,32,521 recoveries and are now left with 1,036 active cases.
