Filmmaker’s daughter trolled, cops to probe

Mumbai: Cyber

police

are

probing

the case of a Bollywood filmmaker whose daughter was trolled on social media last week. Police have found the abusive comment posted on the teen’s Instagram photograph was deleted after the filmmaker lodged an FIR with Amboli police on May 26. However, the filmmaker has submitted a screenshot of the post to help track the troll.

Amboli police senior inspector Bharat Gaikwad said a case has been registered against the unidentified person under Indian Penal Code section 504 (insult), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and also under the IT Act. “The

cyber

team is probing the case and are trying to track the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the account through which the abusive content was posted on the filmmaker’s daughter’s Instagram account,” said Gaikwad.

The filmmaker did not respond to TOI’s text message on Tuesday.

Cops

are probing if the name and photo used by the accused to create the account is real or fake.
