MUMBAI: A massive fire broke out on Saturday morning at 11.19 am in the Khadakpada furniture market in Goregaon East, filling the air with thick smoke and alarming nearby residents.
The Mumbai Fire Brigade quickly responded by sending 12 fire engines, 11 jumbo water tankers, and one quick response vehicle. Firefighters are still working to control the blaze.
The market, located in a crowded residential area, was covered in heavy smoke, causing concern among locals.
According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the fire affected five to six galas containing wooden furniture, plastic items, scrap, thermocol, and plywood. The damaged area is about 2,000 square metres in a ground-floor structure.
No injuries have been reported so far. Authorities are investigating to find out what caused the fire.
