Rohit Verma
has been arrested for allegedly stealing Rs 10,000 and US dollars 1,000 (about Rs 71,000) from his Amboli home.
The accused, Humakant Kushal (23), a Nepalese, was a temporary help. Kushal left Verma’s house on Tuesday evening with “Rs 100 to buy vegetables”, Verma said in his complaint.
The theft came to light on Wednesday morning. Kushal was missing and the cupboard door was ajar. While 1,000 dollars were missing from the cupboard, Rs 10,000 was gone from his bag, the police said.
Senior police inspector Bharat Gaikwad said a mutual friend gave information about Kushal who was found in Mira Road. A part of the booty has been recovered. He is in police custody till August 31.
