ED notice to Raj Thackeray: 'Do not step out of home on Thursday', MNS warns Mumbai residents

MUMBAI: After Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray was asked by ED to appear before an investigating officer in a case on Thursday, August 22, the party has issued an advisory for Mumbai residents. “Do not step out of home on Thursday unless it is necessary,” read the advisory.


Besides Thackeray, former chief minister Manohar Joshi's son Unmesh Joshi has also been summoned by the ED in the same case. The agency is probing Thackeray's involvement in the case in connection with the IL&FS group's loan equity investment in a company called Kohinoor CTNL, which was promoted by Unmesh Joshi.

Talking to TOI, MNS spokesperson Sandeep Deshpande said, “The party will not be responsible if the sentiments of its workers explode on Thursday. So, people in Mumbai should stay back and not step out unless necessary.”

The MNS has called a meeting of all vibhag pramukhs across the state to discuss the issue on Tuesday.

“It has also been decided that party workers across the state will gather in Mumbai on Thursday to accompany Raj Saheb to office of ED, in his support," Deshpande said. He added that lakhs of party workers would reach Mumbai to support MNS leader.
