Injured biker performing wheelie and stunts at the Bandra Reclamation booked by police

MUMBAI: A 21-year-old biker who suffered injuries while performing wheelie and stunts at the Bandra Reclamation early on Sunday has been booked for rash, negligent driving and endangering life after the Bandra traffic police found out that he was part of 50 bikers’ group that was racing and performing stunts on the Western Express Highway.

Rajkumar Kanojia, a 21-year old biker from Mira Road, suffered injury after he fell from the bike while racing. Bandra police are trying to track the other bikers who managed to speed away on noticing traffic police arriving at the spot. Traffic constable Yogesh Pawar said: "On noticing the traffic police the bikers sped away. They were found racing, doing stunts and even wheelies," said the police.

The Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) traffic police constables--Pathan and Thombare--who were on night duty received a call from the traffic control room at around 3.15 am and were asked to go to the spot near Bandra Railway Bridge on the Western Express Highway (WEH) and take action against bikers who were involved in racing.

"On noticing the traffic police, the 50 bikers who were racing and doing stunts, sped away in the direction of Kala Nagar. However, Kanojia who sped towards the Bandra Worli Sea Link was found in an unconscious state after falling from the bike," said a police officer of the Bandra police station.

Police said Kanojia was riding the bike without a number plate and mirrors. He is currently admitted to Bhabha Hospital.

The BKC traffic division received a call at the control room reporting that a group of bikers were racing and performing stunts on the highway. The racing began at Bandra railway bridge on the highway. All the bikers were honking loudly while performing stunts, and Kanojia fell off his bike.
