International Sufi Caravan chief Mufti Manzur Ziyaee condemns attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh
MUMBAI: International Sufi Caravan head Mufti Manzur Ziyaee has strongly condemned the attack on Hindus in Bangladesh.
In a statement, Mumbai-based Ziayee has said that the incidents of killing, mobile lynchings and harassment of members of the minority Hindu community is highly condemnable. He has asked Bangladesh's interim chief Muhammad Yunus and his administration to crack down on the miscreants who are fomenting trouble in the neighbouring country.
"Hindus have lived in what is now Bangladesh for centuries. The fanatics who are attacking Hindu minority members are actually enemies of both their country and faith," said Ziyaee.
He added that Islam commands its followers to take care of their neighbours irrespective of their caste, sex and religion. "If they claim that they are Muslims, they must adhere to the principles of their religion which says that the rights of neighbours must be respected. The government of Bangladesh must ensure that its own citizens, including Hindus, are not harmed by fanatics," said Ziyaee.
As chief of the International Sufi Caravan, an organisation working to forward the Sufi thoughts and message of love and peace enshrined in teachings of Sufism, Ziyaee has been vocal against extremism and forces preaching extremist views.
