Sahil Khan was conned of his luxury car, the police arrested the accused, Aftab Patel. Though Patel had surrendered the

in December 2015 itself, he had been at large.
When handed over to Khan, the car, a
Mercedes
, had been stripped off its accessories. None of those have been recovered, Khan said. Patel has been sent to police custody till October 31. Khan, who lives in Charkop, had bought the car in 2013. In 2015, he decided to sell it and put up an advertisement on a portal. On October 8, 2015, he got a call from Patel and Khan’s driver, Arshad Ansari, answered it. Patel told Ansari he wanted to buy the car.
According to the police, Patel offered to purchase the car the same day for Rs 42 lakh. Patel paid Rs 50,000 in cash and took the vehicle for a “test drive”. He then fled with the car.
“The key switch and lights were removed and the front window was broken. The AC, music system, door speakers and two LED screens were removed. Mirrors and sensors were damaged, seats slashed, tyres deflated and suspension had broken down. The vehicle had to be towed. It was not even worth Rs 5 lakh anymore,” Khan said.
