MUMBAI: The Mumbai Cyber Police have launched a special drive to raise awareness among senior citizens, who are increasingly being targeted by online fraudsters through fake digital arrest calls, bogus investment schemes, and fraudulent share trading offers.
According to officials, a large number of cybercrime victims in the city are senior citizens, often deceived by scammers posing as law enforcement officers or financial advisers. To curb such incidents, police teams will conduct door-to-door visits and hold interactive awareness sessions in housing societies to educate residents about the latest fraud tactics and preventive measures.
A senior officer said the initiative aims to empower senior citizens to recognise and report suspicious online activities. The awareness campaign, police added, is expected to play a significant role in deterring cyber fraud and ensuring better digital safety across Mumbai.
