MUMBAI: The first batch of three volunteers for Oxford University's Covishield

against Covid-19 will get injected early on Saturday, said KEM Hospital dean Dr Hemant Deshmukh.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation-run hospital's trial will include 100 volunteers. "The three participants were screened after we received their consent. They are RT-PCR and antibody negative for Covid-19," said Dr Deshmukh.

As per the trial's randomization method, one out of every four participants will receive a placebo shot. "We screened 10 more potential participants on Saturday and have so far screened 13 volunteers," he added. Ten more participants will be screened on Saturday.

Nair Hospital

is conducting a trial for 100 volunteers.
