Mumbai police economic offences wing to question three senior executives of IndusInd Bank in connection with Rs 1,960 crore accounting irregularities complaint

Mumbai: The economic offences wing (EOW) of the police has summoned three senior executives of IndusInd Bank, including managing director and CEO Sumant Kathpalia, in connection with a complaint of accounting irregularities worth around Rs 1,960 crore.The EOW banking unit registered a preliminary inquiry in the case. An official said the three executives had been asked to appear for questioning between Sept 22 and 24. Besides Kathpalia, summons were issued to Arun Khurana, executive director & deputy CEO, and Govind Jain, chief financial officer.The inquiry originates from a complaint filed by the bank management, which flagged misaccounted derivative trades leading to significant losses. Investigators are examining whether the trades were incorrectly recorded, causing financial discrepancies amounting to nearly Rs 1,960 crore.So far, the EOW has questioned several bank staff members but registered no FIR, as the agency is still assessing whether the matter constitutes a cognisable offence.
