MUMBAI: The city crime branch, probing the firing case outside actor Salman Khan’s residence a fortnight ago, has issued a look-out circular (LOC) notice against wanted accused Anmol Bishnoi for his alleged involvement in the shooting case. Anmol is the brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother. He had shared a post on social media claiming responsibility for the firing after the incident.
Anmol, suspected to be in Canada, had shared a post on social media and said it was the first and last warning for Salman Khan. Anmol is involved in 18 previous criminal cases.
When a suspect tries to escape from the country or lands in India, the immigration authorities detain the person after getting an alert based on the LOC issued against the suspect. The immigration authorities then inform the concerned police station / investigating agency about the detention of the suspect. An LOC notice is issued to all the airports in the country.
Once the charge sheet is filed, the investigating agency can also issue a red corner notice (RCN) against a suspect living in a foreign country for extradition.
Two motor bike-borne men had opened fire outside Salman’s Galaxy Apartments on the morning of April 14. While no one was injured in the attack, the assailants managed to flee on bike. The crime branch later arrested them from Gujarat. The two accused, Vikas Kumar Gupta and Sagar Kumar Pal, are currently in crime branch custody. The shooters had done shooting practice in Bihar, said police.
On Thursday, police brought two accused, Subhash Chander (37) and Anuj Thapan (32), from Punjab. The duo had allegedly supplied weapons to the shooter.
“Thapan is involved in two previous cases including a firing case in which Lawrence and Anmol both are accused as well. This firing incident has happened in Punjab,” said a police officer.
The police are in the process of preparing documents for invoking the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against the accused in the Salman residence firing case.
