MUMBAI: The city recorded a day temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius on Thursday, higher than 37.3 degrees it recorded on February 13, and the highest this season so far. While the IMD Santacruz observatory recorded day temperatures of 37.5 degrees, seven degrees above normal, the IMD Colaba observatory recorded 36.4 degrees, which was also seven degrees above normal.
The night temperatures recorded by both the Colaba and Santacruz observatory were also on the higher side. While the IMD Colaba observatory recorded night temperature of 21.2 degrees, which was one degree above normal, the IMD Santacruz observatory recorded a normal minimum temperature of 18.2 degrees.
Last year, the highest maximum temperature recorded in the month of February was 34.8 degrees. Experts claim the current weather conditions could even end up making this February the warmest-ever on record for the country. The all-time highest maximum temperature recorded in the month of February by the IMD Santacruz observatory was 39.6 degrees on February 25, 1966.
