Neta who lost Mahim by 1,300 votes goes to HC
Mumbai: Sena's Sadanand Sarvankar has filed an election petition before Bombay HC challenging the win and candidature of Mahesh Sawant of Sena (UBT) from the hotly contested Mahim seat in the assembly election held last Nov.Sawant won the seat with 50,213 votes. Sarvankar was a close second with 48,897 votes. The petition by Sarvankar was filed on Jan 4, 2025.On Jan 31, in an order passed by Justice Arif Doctor, after hearing advocate Sagar Ghogare, HC issued summons to Sawant under the rules framed by the court in regard to the election petition under Representation of People's Act, 1951. The next hearing of the matter is on Friday. —Swati Deshpande
