No Muslim in MVA list of 48 picks, Maha Cong neta sulks

MUMBAI: Mumbai Congress chief and party candidate from Mumbai North Central Varsha Gaikwad on Saturday visited former minister Arif Naseem Khan at his office a day after he resigned from the panel of campaigners and as star-campaigner, however, said he stands by his decision.

"There is huge resentment among minorities and north Indians, including Muslims, for non-nomination of even a single Muslim candidate in the 48 seats that MVA is fighting. I'm getting reports that many district Congress workers and office bearers are resigning to protest injustice to the minorities," said Khan.

When asked if he would change his decision, he said he would think about it only after the high command intervenes.

A section of Congressmen said the party should replace Varsha Gaikwad with Khan in Mumbai North Central if it wants to control damage.
