MUMBAI: Hundreds of passengers of Lucknow-Mumbai Pushpak Express were exposed to coronavirus infection after the train ticket examiner (TTE) tested positive for Covid-19 onboard the train.

According to railway officials, the TTE and his wife have been quarantined for 15 days.

A Central Railway official said, "The railway administration is now preparing to get other railway workers examined. The record of passengers on the train has been sent to the government so that they can be traced and tested to curb spread of virus.”

The TTE left from Lucknow on Mumbai-bound Pushpak Express. He alighted at

Bhopal

on March 16.

The following day, he took the same train train to Lucknow from Bhopal on March 17.

Once the train reached Lucknow, the TTE felt feverish after which the railway administration was immediately alerted.

The railway administration sent the TTE to a private hospital which later referred him to Badshahnagar Railway Hospital.

At the hospital, authorities conducted the coronavirus test on the TTE and his wife. During investigation, both tested positive for the infection.
