MUMBAI:
Continuous rains accompanied by loud thunder
were witnessed in Mumbai, Thane and parts of Navi Mumbai on Monday noon.
However, the onset of the south-west monsoon over the city and neighbouring areas is yet to be officially declared by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to the IMD, southwest monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, Konkan, most parts of Madhya Maharashtra, remaining parts of Marathwada, Vidarbha and some parts of Madhya Pradesh.
"Conditions are favourable for further advancement of southwest monsoon into remaining parts of central Arabian Sea, Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra and Chattishgarh. Also some parts of north Arabian Sea, Gujarat and some more parts of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar pradesh and Uttarakhand during the next 48 hours," said IMD officials.
