State approves 275cr to develop 8 temples
Mumbai: An apex committee, led by CM Eknath Shinde, on Thursday approved development plans worth Rs 275 crore for eight temples in the state, including Riddhapur, Bhishnoor, Jalicha Dev, Pohicha Dev, and Panchaleshwar. "All plans were approved. Successful implementation of these development plans will boost the tourism development of the rural areas of Maharashtra," Shinde said. "This year is the 800th birth anniversary year of Shri Chakradhar Swami. Thursday is his birth anniversary. On this occasion, substantial funds are being made available for the development of shrines of Mahanubhava Panth. Officials must get global proposals in two phases for the development of Shree Sant Gulabrao Maharaj Shrine at Bhakti Dham Prahladpur. A proposal should be submitted to declare the village of Aran in Solapur district, which is the village of Saint Savata Mali, as a pilgrimage site."Officials said Rs 25 crore was cleared for the first phase of Sri Sant Gulabrao Maharaj Pilgrimage Centre in Amravati, Rs 14.99 crore for Riddhapur, Rs 7.9 crore for Sri Panchaleshwar in Beed, Rs 4.54 crore for Shri Kshetra Pohi Deo, and Rs 23.99 crore for Jali Chi Dev in Jalna, Rs 18.97 crore for Shree Govind Prabhu Temple in Wardha, Rs 164.62 crore for Shree Vitthal Mandir Devasthana at Dhapewada in Nagpur and Rs 14.97 crore for the beautification of Shiv Parvati Lake at Vadangay in Kolhapur. "Temple development plans do boost the local economy of the regions and benefit local stakeholders and the communities too. The Mahayuti govt is looking to cash in on the goodwill these plans will create even though implementation will not be easy and may take a long time," said a political observer.
