State signs four energy sector MoUs worth Rs 47,000 crore

Mumbai: Four MoUs were signed between the state govt (Mahagenco Renewable Energy Ltd) and REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL), THDC India Ltd, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL)and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) at the Sahyadri Guest House on Thursday.
Dy CM Devendra Fadnavis, who is also the energy minister, said the signing of the four MoUs with investment of around Rs 47,000 crore will generate 19,000 employment opportunities.
"Sectors such as ARI, green hydrogen, and green ammonia will enhance green energy initiatives and help Maharashtra progress towards its goal of achieving use of 50% clean energy by 2030," he said.
RECPDCL will initially start a hybrid project of 500 MW. Due to this MoU, 1,663 direct and indirect jobs will be created. The investment proposed is Rs 3,000 crore.
About 4,250 MW renewable energy projects will be developed due to the MoU signed with THDCIL and 14,130 direct and indirect jobs will be created. This project involves an investment of Rs 29,329 crore.
