Three college students perform ‘dangerous’ stunt on Palm Beach Road in Navi Mumbai, detained after video goes viral

Navi Mumbai: Three college students, were booked by Sanpada police for performing a ‘dangerous' stunt in a moving car on Palm Beach Road on Monday around 8:30 pm. The police detained the trio after the stunt video clip went viral on social media.In the now viral video clip, recorded by an unidentified motorist while travelling from Sarsole Signal to Moraj Signal, Sanpada, on the Vashi lane of Palm Beach Road, one man is seen leaning out of the open sunroof of the moving car, while another man sat on the open window of the right rear seat with his upper body out of the window. Thereafter, the woman who was driving the hatchback took a turn to lean out of the open sunroof while her friend drove the vehicle.Devidas Kathale, Senior Inspector of Sanpada, said, "From the viral video clip of the stunt in the moving car, the vehicle's registration number enabled us to trace the car owner's residence in Sector 20, Belapur Village. It was learnt that the car owner's son, Hari Gholpe (20), was driving the vehicle. He was accompanied by his friends Vinay Rawal (19), a Sanpada resident, and Kavya Joshi (20), residing in Nerul. While Gholpe dangerously leaned out of the moving car's window, Rawal leaned out through the sunroof, while Joshi was at the wheel. Thereafter, Joshi took a turn to perform a stunt by leaning out of the sunroof while one of her friends drove the car."Inspector Kathale informed that an FIR has been registered against the three accused under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) for acts endangering human life or personal safety of others and rash driving or riding on a public way, along with the Motor Vehicle Act for dangerous driving. As per the provision of the law, the accused were not arrested but served with a notice under Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), directing them to cooperate in the police investigation and remain present in court when summoned.
