MUMBAI: A group of youngsters who circulated a
video
clip on
WhatsApp of a teenage girl jumping to her death from a Kandivli high-rise may be booked if the family of the deceased presses charges. The 14-year-old girl had leaped off the eighth floor refuge area of the high-rise last Wednesday. The police had recovered a 3-page suicide note purportedly written by the girl.
A senior police officer said that they have so far recorded statements of 12 people including those who witnessed the incident. "A few youngsters living in BMC staff quarters, opposite the high-rise, had shot the video and sent the clip to their contacts on WhatsApp. We are probing how the video went viral on WhatsApp," said the officer.
The police said that the girl's suicide note had indicated that the girl could have been "battling mental health issues".
