MANDYA: Sports minister K C Narayana Gowda on Monday said arrangements have been made by the district administration to celebrate Kumbh Mela from October 13 to 16.
The decision to hold Kumbh Mela in south Karnataka was made in the presence of Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswami of Adichunchanagiri Mutt and Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswami of Suttur Mutt. Dharmasthala Dharmadikari Veerendra Heggade will inaugurate the mela on October 14. The next day, a meeting of seers and saints will be held. Holy dip and closing ceremony will be held on October 16.
Trinetra Mahanta Shivayogi Swami of Chandravanashram, DC S Ashwathi, and SP N Yatish were present.
Meanwhile, Gowda on Monday launched adventure water sports being organised by the district administration, Zilla Panchayat, youth empowerment and sports department and General Thimmaiah National Sahasa Academy near Bhu Varahanatha Swamy Temple in KR Pete taluk of Mandya district.
