‘China must grant autonomy to Tibet’
MYSURU: China is going against the democratic values recognized by the United Nations by refusing to honour the human rights of six million Tibetans, said B V Javaregowda, president of Indo-Tibetan Friendship Society, here on Monday.
Speaking at the 58th anniversary of Tibetan Democracy Day Gowda said: “Tibetans have lost hope to attain freedom because of China as its President Xi Jinping has been aggressive with the Tibetans. There is no democracy in China as those who get elected will serve for lifetime, which is against the democratic values of the UN.”
Nothing seems to have worked though the Dalai Lama formed a democratic government of Tibet-in-exile, which is headquartered at Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh on September 2, 1960, he rued.
Urging China to grant autonomy to Tibet, Gowda said: “The Republic of China should grant autonomous status to Tibet as Tibetans are willing to accept to be ruled by the Chinese government if their culture and religion are protected.”
