CM launches devpt projects worth Rs 513 crore in Mysuru

Mysuru: Chief minister Siddaramaiah on Friday said the main job of the elected representatives is not only to provide solutions to people's problems but also to advance the development of the state."As people are considered the ultimate owners in a democracy and hold ultimate power in such a political system, it is the duty of govt to ensure people-friendly governance," he said. He was speaking after launching development projects worth Rs 513 crore at KR Nagar in Mysuru district on Friday.This also includes a Rs 60 crore project to fill water in lakes in KR Nagar and Saligrama taluks, Rs 50 crore to fill water in lakes in Hosa Agrahara, and Rs 25 crore to construct a new bridge across Cauvery River to connect Kappadi to Gandanahalli. The state minor irrigation department also inaugurated Rs 197 crore development works in KR NagarHe said about 60 lakh women benefited from Shakti scheme, which offers free bus travel to women in the state, since its launch two years ago. The CM assured that Karnataka, which ranked second in Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection in the country, will soon be ranked first. Govt has also initiated measures for the rejuvenation of the Sri Rama Cooperative Sugar Factory in Saligrama.He said the implementation of guarantee schemes received wide appreciation from the people. "Dharmasthala Dharmadikari Veerendra Hegde wrote a letter to the state govt about the impact of the Shakti scheme on religious tourism. Govt walked the talk by successfully implementing the five guarantee schemes and spent Rs 90,000 crore so far. It also spent Rs 60,000 crore for the disbursal of pensions and Rs 2.1 lakh crore for the promotion of agricultural activities in the state," he said. The CM appreciated KR Nagar MLA D Ravishankar's working style and said he is taking KR Nagar taluk forward. Mysuru district minister HC Mahadevappa, ministers K Venkatesh, K Boseraju, Dinesh Gundrao, Byrathi Suresh, MLA Ravishankar, and MLC D Thimmaiah were present.
