MYSURU: After the footage of a private high school in-charge headmaster, which showed him misbehaving with a girl in the school office room, went viral, he has been booked for sexual harassment and assault.
The management of the school in HD Kote has dismissed the accused from service.
The education department took the matter seriously and conducted a probe by block education officer Chandrakanth M, soon after the video of the headmaster Anil Kumar hugging a girl went viral early this week. The alleged incident was recorded on a cellphone. Based on the video footage and the statements by schoolteachers and SDMC members, the BEO lodged a police complaint against Kumar.
Other teachers of the school have said that the girl is not a student of that institute. According to sources, she was a former student of the school, and had come to the office room after the students in the high school left.
The identity of the girl and the date of the incident are still not known, police said. Based on the report by BEO, police registered an FIR and probed the case.
Mysuru DDPI Ramachandra Raje Urs said the school management has dismissed the headmaster after a case was registered against him. SP R Chetan told STOI that an FIR was registered based on the BEO's complaint. Investigation is under way.
Police said more details can't be revealed as it is a case booked under Pocso Act.
