Shivamogga KSCA stadium flooded

Shivamogga: The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) stadium located at Navule in the city was flooded following heavy rain in the city.
As the stadium is built on a plot that was part of the historic Navule Lake, the rainwater gushed into the stadium, affecting sports activities. The stadium was flooded seven times in the past 20 years. This is the second time this year that it is waterlogged.
The stadium was built on 26 acres of lake land leased to the KSCA in 2003 for 30 years. The KSCA was asked to develop the remaining 5.6 acres of the lake area. Locals complained that the lake was neglected. Activist Parisara Ramesh expressed outrage over the condition of the lake. Speaking to TOI, Ramesh stated that he is planning to approach the Green Tribunal regarding the issue.
Environmentalists alleged that the district administration is a mute spectator. When contacted, deputy commissioner Gurudutt Hegde promised to look into the issue.
