KIADB acquires 838 acres for Phase II expansion in Chamarajanagar
Mysuru: Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) has acquired 838 acres for Phase II expansion of the Kellamballi-Badanaguppe Industrial Area in Chamarajanagar district.
KIADB had notified 1,189 acres for acquisition. Compensation has been distributed to the majority of landowners, while payouts to the remaining will be completed after legal disputes are resolved.
Officials said development has begun on part of the acquired land to create industrial plots.
With industrial plots in Phase I largely occupied, the govt has stepped up expansion efforts to attract more investors to the region.
The industrial area was initiated by the then Chamarajanagar district minister, HS Mahadevprasad, to attract large industries to the district.
“KIADB has completed the land acquisition process of 838 acres among the 1,189 acres and compensation was distributed to the majority of the landowners. Compensation will also be distributed to the remaining landowners once their legal disputes are cleared,” KIADB sspecial land acquisition officer Nagahanumaiah said.
He added that development work is under way to create industrial infrastructure.
“As the expansion of industrial area not only helps promotion of industrial activities but also generates jobs, the govt should accelerate the process,” Jayasimha, president of Chamarajanagar Small Scale Industrialists Association (CHASSIA), said.
“It improves the local economy and improves quality of life. The govt should take up additional industrial expansion activities in the border district,” he said.
