Mandya DC directs major preparations for Yoga Day
Mandya deputy commissioner Kumara has directed officials to make comprehensive arrangements for the meaningful celebration of the 12th International Yoga Day, scheduled to be held on June 21 at the PET Stadium of PES Engineering College in Mandya.
During a preparatory meeting held at the DC’s office on Friday, Kumara emphasised the need to ensure large-scale public participation and smooth coordination among all departments. He noted that the annual mass yoga demonstration, organised as part of the International Yoga Day celebrations, has become a significant event in the district and should be conducted with greater enthusiasm this year.
The DC instructed officials to take necessary measures to facilitate the participation of more than 10,000 people, including students from schools and colleges, hostel residents, Scouts and Guides, members of women’s organisations, and various yoga institutions.
The police department has been asked to make adequate security and parking arrangements, while the health department will provide ambulance services, first-aid facilities, and organise a blood donation camp at the venue.
District AYUSH officer Dr Pushpa briefed the meeting on the venue selection guidelines issued by the AYUSH department, the mobilisation of yoga practitioners, and the rehearsal plans for the yoga demonstrations. Additional superintendent of police Thimmaiah, Indian Red Cross Society Mandya district unit vice-president Meera Shivalingaiah, and other district-level officials attended the meeting.
